N a t u r e s c a p e s Undershrub Aerva persica together with fresh, post-monsoon grass growing on sand mounds creates a surreal scene at a city forest in Jaipur. Locally known as 'Bui' or 'Buari', Aerva persica is found almost throughout the state, forming perennial, gregarious patches on sandy areas, even on sand dunes. Its white, wooly seeds are used as stuffing for beds and pillows and ayurveda finds its use in medicines for curing rheumatism and dysentery. Photo date: Sept. 2005 |
