A pair of Great Indian Bustards at Desert National Park     N a t u r e s c a p e s

A pair of Great Indian Bustard (Ardeotis nigriceps) at Desert National Park, on the outskirts of Jaisalmer.

These birds usually affect open sparse grass country and scrub plains. While GIB is the State Bird of Rajasthan, it is listed as an endangered species in the Red Data Book because its very small population is declining as a result of poaching, continuing agricultural development and human colonisation over Bustard habitat.
