Indian Fox at Desert National Park     N a t u r e s c a p e s

An Indian Fox (Vulpes bengalensis) stares at the photographer at Desert National Park, near Jaisalmer.

Commonly known as Lomri in Hindi, this fox is common in the waste and scrub of the Thar desert (though not in true desert). It is mainly a nocturnal animal, feeds chiefly on small mammals (Rats specially), reptiles and insects and is thus beneficial to farmers.
