A flowering Kair shrub at Taal Chhapar     N a t u r e s c a p e s

A flowering Kair (Capparis decidua) shrub at Taal Chhapar wildlife sanctuary.

Well suited to the dry and harsh climatic conditions of Rajasthan, Kair shrubs are commonly found on rocks, gravel, sandy plains and sometimes even on sand dunes. The wood of this shrub is tough, light and bitter and often used as firewood as it burns quickly. Moreover, the wood is never touched by white ants.
