N a t u r e s c a p e s A Laggar Falcon (Falco jugger) poses for the photographer from top of an electric pole at the Desert National Park, near Jaisalmer. This a near-threatened bird, a "must-see" on the wish-list of most birdwatchers! The Desert National Park, covering an area of more than 3,000 sq km, is located about 50 km west of Jaisalmer. Sand-dunes, grasslands, scrublands and low rock faces constitute the physical features of this park. DNP boasts of a good variety of characteristic flora and fauna and offers a lot to the serious wildlifer. Photo date: Sept. 2004 |
