Chital at Sariska National Park     N a t u r e s c a p e s



A Chital or Spotted Deer (Axis axis) crosses the main road passing through Sariska National Park, near the city of Alwar.

One of India's better known National Parks, Sariska covers an area of more than 850 sq kms. Spotted Deer, Sambar (Cervus unicolor), Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena), Indian Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) and Leopard (Panthera pardus) are some of the key mammals found here; as are a host of resident and migratory bird species notable among which are Painted Spurfowl (Galloperdix lunulata) and Asian Paradise Flycatcher (Terpsiphone paradisi).
